Driven by personal history and cultural shock upon moving to Dubai, the author seeks to combat corporal punishment through family therapy. Her journey—from a turbulent childhood in Iran to building a life in the UAE—fuels her mission to protect children, empower families, and foster progressive change across the Middle East. She aims to become a therapist and advocate for nonviolent parenting and child well-being.

Passionate about child mental health, I hold a BA in Psychology and a Master’s in Psychological Approaches to Health from UK universities. With clinical experience in Cyprus and the UK, I aim to pursue a Master’s in Clinical Psychology in the US to help abused children. My background blends theory, research, and advocacy, driven by a deep commitment to making a difference through culturally sensitive care.

The greatest contribution that I might be able to make to society would be to improve the quality of life of children who have suffered brain damage. To this end I want to devote my professional life to research in pediatric neuropsychology.  I knew immediately that neurophysiology was the right career path for me when I saw how it could be combined with pediatrics.
